1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder
The 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyders' brawny engine muscle and relative light
weight makes for such startlingly brisk out-of-the-blocks acceleration that it's
somewhat akin to being hurtled from a slingshot. Obviously, Mitsubishi designed
this car for hot-rodders. It's a great option for weekend warriors who once visualized
themselves strapped in a Formula 1 car, racing around but opted for the security
of an office job. But its not just the 1997 Eclipse Spyders' powerful engine that
drives the stake, you have to consider its styling.

Even at a standstill, Its stance is so aggressive, its lines so sleek, its visage
so predatory, that the 1997 Eclipse Spyder looks like its already pouncing on
the freeway at a hundred miles per hour. The 1997 Eclipse Spyder, is a slick convertible
that comes with either the normally aspirated or turbocharged engine. There are
six different versions of the Eclipse for 1997:RS, GS, GS-T, GSX, Spyder GS, and
Spyder GS-T. All models receive an updated front fascia. GS and GS-T models receive
a more prominent rear spoiler.
The GS-T is powered by a turbocharged and intercooled version of the same engine
that puts out 210 horsepower and 214 lb.-ft. of torque at just 3,000 rpm. If you
choose the 4-speed automatic transmission, the turbocharged engine delivers slightly
less horsepower--205--but generates more torque--220 lb.-ft. All models are front-wheel
drive except the GSX, which comes with all-wheel drive.
